Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions

PICS aims to catalyze and mobilize research, partnerships, and knowledge that generate climate action.

About

The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) is a beacon of climate leadership and action, established in 2008 to address the urgent climate challenges facing British Columbia and beyond. Through a robust network of university partners, PICS engages in a wide range of activities designed to catalyze research, forge partnerships, and drive tangible climate action. With a commitment to agility, ambition, and action, PICS has embraced a refreshed set of organizational values and strategies that prioritize justice, equity, decolonization, and intersectionality. At the heart of its mission is the goal to create positive, lasting impacts across various sectors, including academia, government, civil society, and the business community, while also investing in meaningful relationships with Indigenous organizations, Nations, and communities.

PICS' approach to climate solutions is deeply collaborative and transdisciplinary, emphasizing the importance of translating knowledge into action and prioritizing collaboration over competition. By leveraging its proven research model and focusing on the principles of justice and equity, PICS is uniquely positioned to lead and support the development of innovative climate solutions that respond to the immediate and long-term challenges of the climate crisis. As British Columbia confronts the realities of wildfires, floods, and heatwaves, along with the complexities of decarbonization and electrification, PICS stands ready to bolster the collective capacity of the region and the world to enact impactful climate solutions.
